Did you ever wanted to access Wikipedia while you are on the go? WikiTaxi comes to your rescue, its a portable application that delivers the Wikipedia of your choice to wherever you go. WikiTaxi enables you to read, search and browse Wikipedia offline. You do not need to be online, all pages are stored in a WikiTaxi database.
WikiTaxi comes with a compression to make sure that the database stays reasonably small. WikiTaxi is multilingual, which means that you can use it for Wikipedia’s from different languages. It also works well with the dictionary and quotation Wikis.
WikiTaxi does not requires any installation, just extract the WikiTaxi archive (requires 7-Zip) to any folder. WikiTaxi is portable too, its a single-file application which you just need to double-click to run. It does not require a database engine or HTML browser, nor does it require PHP. All functionality is completely self-contained in a single executable.
WikiTaxi is easy to main as well; to uninstall, simply delete the executable file. To remove an outdated database, just erase the file.
Before you can actually use WikiTaxi, you must download your Wikipedia from the internet and import it into a WikiTaxi database. This is necessary for offline browsing.
To start downloading the Wikipedia backup, follow one of the links below, pick your Wiki and browse to latest directory and look out for the file name ending with
“latest-pages-articles.xml.bz2”
Wikipedia Backup:
Simple English (simplewiki), excellent for first WikiTaxi import and Testing.
English (enwiki), more than 3.5GB download size.
Dumps for all Wikis, in different languages and sizes.
Download this file to your hard disk. It contains all articles, templates, image description and primary meta-pages of a Wiki.
Now you have import the xml dump into a WikiTaxi database, to do this run WikiTaxi_Importer.exe present in the folder in which you have extracted the WikiTaxi archive. It will extract the Wiki articles from the XML dump files to a WikiTaxi database.

In the WikiTaxi importer, enter or browse for the XML dump file you just have downloaded(file name ending with “latest-pages-articles.xml.bz2”) and the database file you want it to create. Then click on “Import Now” button and wait until the import is finished.
Now you just have to link WikiTaxi with the database file which was created with WikiTaxi importer.

Run the WikiTaxi.exe, it will open with the welcome page, Click on the file or folder to select the database and you are all set to read, search and browse Wikipedia offline.
Njoy!!
