Symbol for Indian currency was approved by the Government of India on 15 July 2010. Till now the international three-letter code for the Indian rupee is INR.
The new sign is a amalgam of the Devanagari letter
(ra) and the Latin capital letter “R” without its vertical bar.
The parallel lines at the top with white space between them are said to make an allusion to the tricolor Indian flag.

You can easily add the new Rupee symbol in your website or blog.
Add a stylesheet link in the head section of your webpage:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://cdn.webrupee.com/font">
Add the following code enclosing your “Rs.”
<span class="WebRupee">Rs.</span> 1000
OR
Just include the following javascript and it will update all the “ Rs ” / “ Rs. ” for you
<script src="http://cdn.webrupee.com/js" type="text/javascript"></script>
