Google has added the power of remote access control in the Chrome browser which is currently in the beta phase. Chrome Remote Desktop BETA is the first installment on a capability allowing users to remotely access another computer through the Chrome browser or a Chromebook.

This extension enables users to share with or get access to another computer by providing a one-time authentication code. It’s cross-platform, so you can any access any PC that have a Chrome browser, including Windows, Linux, Mac and Chromebooks.

In order to install remote control Chrome extension, you need to login in your Gmail account.

This extension can access:

• Your data on accounts.google.com, www.google.com, www.googleapis.com and www. talkgadget.google.com websites
• All data on your computer and the websites you visit
• Your tabs and browsing activity

After you have installed the extension, you can access by clicking it in the app section of the browser tab.

How to Use Chrome Remote Desktop Extension:

1. For the first time, you need to grant extended access permission to your computer. Click “Continue” to view the required permissions.

2. Chrome Remote Desktop will request for permission to view you email address, your chrome remote desktop computers, view and send chat messages. Click on “Allow access” to start.

3. Click on “Share This Computer” to generate a 12 digit access code for your computer. This code will be generated every time you will share your desktop.

4. Share this code with the person you want to share your desktop.

5. If you are accessing remote computer click on “access a shared computer” and enter the 12 digit access code provided to you by the person.

6. While connected you can click the Disconnect button or press Ctrl+Alt+Esc, or close the tab to end the remote session.

One potential use of this app is the remote IT helpdesk. The helpdesk can use the Chrome Remote Desktop BETA to help another user, while conversely a user can receive help by setting up a sharing session without leaving their desk.

Access is given only to the specific person the user identifies for one time only and the sharing session is fully secured.

I stumbled upon a new way of taking notes from notesforlater, which will quickly send the notes to your email address with a simple click and it does not require any login, just an email address.

You just have to highlight the text on the webpage which you would like to be saved and click on the “make note” on the browser bookmark section.

You will receive the email, which will have the highlighted text, link of the webpage and time you access the page.

How to use notes for later:

1. Browse to notesforlater website.

2. Enter your email address on which you want to receive the notes and click on sign up. An email will be sent to you with a link to claim your bookmarklet.

3. Click on the bookmarklet link in the email.

4. You’ll be brought to a notes for later page. You will be presented with two bookmarklet “make note 1” and make note 2”. Drag and drop one or both of the bookmarklet on to your browser’s bookmarks bar.

5. With “make note 1”, whenever you click the button in your bookmarks bar, the highlighted text, link, and time you accessed the page will be sent to your email.

6. “make note 2” sends the highlighted text, link, and time you accessed the page to your email and gives you the ability to add a personal message to your note.

7. Highlight the text and click on bookmarklet to send the content to you email address.

It works on Firefox, Chrome, Safari, IE8 and Opera.
